The goal of this presentation is to educate attendees on the cost saving benefits of a shared service model for their school districts. Shared Services refers to the provision of a service by one part of an organization or group where that service had previously been found in more than one part of the organization or group. Thus the funding and resourcing of the service is shared and the providing department effectively becomes an internal service provider. The key is the idea of 'sharing' within an organization or group and decreasing overall costs of procuring products and services. Some of the benefits of using a Shared Service model: • Decrease Costs and Increase Buying Power • Higher trained and certified engineers by a countywide or group discounted basis • Act as a buying consortium for member organizations • Decrease licensing, product, and service costs • Decrease costs on products you are already buying o Cisco o Microsoft o HP o VMware • Countywide redundant system including: Exchange Email Services, Voice, Video, Data Center, Library System, etc.
