Implement nutrition and wellness best practices and real-world examples from colleagues in New Jersey and across the country to help improve student achievement. Participants will be able to take away many tips, ideas, suggestions about how to improve the well-being of their students. With a focus on preparing students for peak performance in the classroom and in life, this session will include a discussion of national efforts to increase student access to healthy foods in school. We will explore ways to enhance nutrition education and communication for students and parents, and provide success stories from districts across the country. This will be an updated version of a workshop we presented during the NSBA Conference in April.

Fuel Up to Play 60: An Effective Way to Improve School Wellness and Increase School Funding

During this lecture, participants will learn how to put the Fuel Up To Play 60 program to work in their districts and accomplish tangible goals concerning nutrition and physical fitness that will seriously impact the health of our students in a positive and lasting way. In addition, implementing various strategies from this program may increase funding for schools. The FUTP60 program could very well be the long-awaited answer to the epidemic of childhood obesity and financial concerns for school nutrition programs.
